ARP Racers and Drivers,

Saturday is the first of five Mid-South Maxxis National Qualifier (MSMNQ)
races at ARP. As usual, the front gate entry will still be $10, but class
entry will be $20 – with 80% payback in all classes except for Novice
classes. Novice classes will still have a $10 entry and will be awarded
trophies.

About the MSMNQ event
it is a five-race series (it will encompass all
classes except for the Novice classes). Points are awarded just the same
as if it were a regular point event. When a driver competes in a class, he
will get points for both the MSMNQ event AND a regular point race event.
At the conclusion of the five race MSMNQ series, the top-five point
finishers in the series will get an invite to compete at the Maxxis
National Championship race in Neeces, SC. This championship race is an
invitation-only event – no one can just show up and expect to race. The
best racers across the country will be there – and a select few will be
there to represent ARP racers.

The MSMNQ series is a unique opportunity for ARP drivers. We are the only
track where this can be accomplished – all other means of earning a spot
at the Nationals are through touring series.

IMPORTANT RULE CHANGE: It has come to light that a mistake has been made
in our class structure and we need to make an immediate change. Here are
the circumstances surrounding the decision:

ANIMAL PURPLE RESTRICTOR PLATE: The most recent WKA Tech Manual states the
use of the three-hole restrictor plate for competition in Briggs Animal
purple plate classes. When investigated, before I implemented this into
our class structure, a WKA tech official informed me that the 3-hole
restrictor plate was allowed for use with the 2-hole version and purple
plate Raptor engines. Either from misunderstanding or bad info (not sure
which), we allowed the 3-hole plate to race with the 2-hole and the Raptor
engines. This was a mistake on my part. The 3-hole Animal purple
restrictor plate makes a very small amount of horsepower more than the
purple Animal 2-hole plate.

Basically
Animal 3-hole purple plate classes were intended to be raced in
a class by themselves. The Animal with the 2-hole plate and the Raptors
with the purple restrictor plate were designed to be raced together. Since
we race both the Animal and the Raptor engines together in our purple
plate classes, the Animal 3-hole plate will NOT be allowed effective
immediately. The rule will be reflected on both the web site’s class
structures and in the 2010 Rule Book.

As usual, if you have questions or comments, email me at
frank.ashe at atoka-raceway-park.com.

We appreciate your support. Gates open at 10am on Saturday. See you then!
